EAPPI brings international volunteers to the West Bank to experience life under occupation. Ecumenical Accompaniers (EAs) provide protective presence to vulnerable communities, monitor and report human rights violations and show solidarity to Palestinians and Israelis working together for peace.
EAPPI was founded in response to a call from the Heads of Churches in Jerusalem. Since 2002 over 1500 international volunteers from 22 countries have served as EAs.
Participation in EAPPI of Swiss volunteers in the EAPPI is made possible by the patronage of the Swiss Federation of Protestant Churches (SEK) and the Swiss Church Aid (HEKS). Peace Watch Switzerland (PWS) is responsible for the operational part of the madate. As of 2017 PWS has sent over 180 Human Rights Accompaniers into the field.
